Below is a notice sent out by APCUG, our National Association of User Groups that we belong to. Another added benefit to your membership in KIPCUG

National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a joint public - private partnership between the Department of Homeland Security (goo.gl/SWpW9), the National Cyber Security Alliance (staysafeonline.org/), and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (msisac.cisecurity.org). According to Homeland Security “The most serious economic and national security challenges we face are cyber threats. America's economic prosperity and competitiveness in the 21st Century depends on effective cyber security. Every Internet user has a role to play in securing cyberspace and ensuring the safety of themselves and their families online.”

According to the Stay Safe Online website, “Cybersecurity is our shared responsibility. That means everyone has the potential to make a difference and educate others. You can raise awareness within your community, no matter what your role is.”

APCUG member groups are encouraged to make their members and community aware that October is National Cyber Security Month. Become a champion of NCSM by visiting http://goo.gl/O4fku.
